Magnaflux Magnavis® WCP-2 Contrast Paint

Magnavis® WCP-2 Contrast Paint provides a white background that enhances magnetic particle indications.

Magnavis® WCP-2 is composed of acetone and inorganic pigments and utilizes a carbon dioxide aerosol propellant for ease of application.

Specifications Compliance: BS 5044

Applications: WCP-2 is designed for use in applications where the contrast in color between the part being tested and the magnetic particles being used is insufficient for reliable identification of flaws. WCP-2 can be used with both dry and wet-method magnetic particles.

White Contrast Paint

General Description

MAGNAVIS® WCP-2 is a ready-to-use, rapid-drying white contrast paint. It produces an opaque white background to enhance visible magnetic particle indications on dark-coloured test surfaces.

WCP-2 is suitable for use in both dry method and wet method magnetic particle inspection.

Composition

WCP-2 is composed of inert inorganic pigments and an acrylic binder in a solvent blend based on acetone.

It is low in sulphur and halogens, and contains no chlorinated hydrocarbons.

Like all Magnaflux materials, WCP-2 is closely controlled to ensure batch-to-batch consistency, optimum process control and inspection reliability.

General Method of Use

Clean the component before testing to provide a suitable test surface.

Shake the can to ensure that the paint particles are evenly distributed.

Apply an thin, even film of the paint to the test surface by spraying, dipping or brushing. Allow to dry.

Apply magnetic particles to the test surface and observe any indications formed around leaks/defects. If the test material has a high retentivity, indications will remain visible; othwerise, the indications will slowly fade.

After inspection, demagnetise the test part before cleaning. If required, the dried paint film can be removed using a wire brush or a common solvent, such as acetone.
